Hi There! I’m Angela.
Elementary Teacher > SAHM
I’m convinced that there are two real life superheroes in the world- mamas and teachers.
Before I became a mom, I focused my life around teaching. I have a masters degree in early childhood education, and I spent 7 years teaching third grade.
In my spare time, I would research, find new ways to teach skills, create resources for other teachers- anything that involved teaching kids, I wanted a part.
Fast forward to 2019 when I had Gray. I guess I assumed that because I focused so much of my time around kids, that being a mom would come natural. IT DID NOT COME NATURAL. (In all fairness, Gray was NOT an easy baby- colic, all the illnesses, pre-mature.. basically he just screamed non stop and I was clueless)
I didn’t want to admit it, but I was so ready for maternity leave to be OVER so that I could be back in the classroom with the kids I was familiar with. Of course I felt all the guilt for feeling that way.
When I was finally off of maternity leave and back in my classroom, I quickly realized that my teaching lifestyle- staying at work until 6pm creating resources and fun activities + centering my life around my job- was no longer something I could continue doing.
Each day that went on, I bonded more and more with my little guy and I was forced to make the decision to leave the classroom. (It might have taken the 2020 pandemic to give me the extra push, but hey- here we are)
So as I began my “stay at home mom” life, I QUICKLY realized that I needed to use my brain.
I NEEDED to be able to find a way to use my education while being home with Gray.
And that’s how Mama Wears Pajamas got started- my outlet to helping teachers with what they need in their classroom and a friend that knows the struggle of life as a teacher and also as a mom.
